Theta Xi strives to provide a college home environment for students at Auburn University. Through academic, philanthropic, and social events, Theta Xi provides opportunities for personal growth and leadership development. Founded at Auburn in 1954, the Beta Zeta chapter has been a home for generations of undergraduates and alumni over the past 7 decades.
All True Men

Theta Xi has established the All True Men program to recognize and support chapters which go above and beyond the standards for accreditation. As an All True Men chapter, The Beta Zeta colony will have access to a dedicated leadership coach, additional grant monies from Headquarters for educational resources, and additional attendees at the Theta Xi Rising Stars Academy
Notable Alumni
James Voss, a Beta Zeta Alumnus who served as Chapter President from 1970-1971. Jim's many achievements while serving his country include the longest spacewalk on record (8 hours and 56 minutes) on STS-102, a distinguished career at NASA, service in the Army, graduation from both Army Ranger School and Army Airborne School, and receipt of the Outstanding Student Award while attending US Navy Test Pilot School. After retiring from NASA in 2003,Jim became Associate Dean of Engineering for External Affairs at Auburn University. Jim will be nationally honored at the 2022 Theta Xi Annual Convention as the Theta Xi Man of Distinction, for excellence in his career after graduation.
Lt. Gen. Ronald L. Burgess retired from the U.S. Army as the17th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2012. Throughout his 38-year Army career, and in his roles with Auburn, Burgess has continued to serve the U.S. intelligence community by providing leadership and strategic vision that contributes to safeguarding U.S. national security interests.
Dr. Allen Edgar was a Beta Zeta Board Member, and a Beta Zeta Brother initiated in 1959.Heplayed a key role in the development and construction of the Beta Zeta chapter of Theta Xi Fraternity house on Old Row at Auburn University. He is known worldwide for developing poultry vaccines and was a key figure in the development of the poultry industry in the Southeast. James W. Rane is chairman, president, and CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., the leading producer of pressure treated lumber in the United States, and has been a member of the Auburn University Board of Trustees since 1999.
Scott Yates is the current Beta Zeta Alumni Board President, and a Beta Zeta Brother initiated in 1991?. After Scott’s time at Auburn, he served in the US Army as a Communications specialist, stationed in South Korea. After leaving the Army, Scott has worked with Cox Communications as an Associate Vice President. Scott had been integral to the success of Beta Zeta over the last three decades, and will be nationally honored at the 2022 Theta Xi Convention as the newest member of the Order of the Unicorn, Theta Xi’s highest honor.
